Scotland’s capital city is home to a number of different markets all year round and has something for everyone from fresh, locally grown and sourced produce to beautiful handmade items and festive delights.
Regular Markets

1. Edinburgh Farmers Market
Every Saturday, all year round you can visit the award-winning Farmer’s Market at Castle Terrace. Fresh, seasonal produce right below the castle will tempt you with their delicious smells with a menu of organic meats, fresh fruit and vegetables, homemade jams, chutneys, chillies, cheese, freshly baked bread, handmade confectionary and organic beer there’s something there that will tempt you.
2. Stockbridge Market
Each Sunday in Jubilee Gardens the Stockbridge Sunday market is a favourite for Edinburgh’s residents and visitors. Bread, cheese, smoked fish and handmade gifts and crafts will entice you as you take a walk through the Gardens with the smell of homemade crepes and freshly brewed coffee around you.
3. Greater Grassmarket
Edinburgh’s famous Grassmarket just minutes from the Royal Mile is home to a weekly market each Saturday. With a view of the castle you can find local produce here as well as seasonal items, fresh bread, confectionary and handmade gifts.
4. Leith Market
Each Saturday the Leith Market at Dock Place if filled with foods to tempt any palate as well as a monthly Vegan Quarter on the first Saturday of each month. Each month the market welcomes a variety of delicious vegan treats alongside the regular traders.
5. Street Food Fridays
At Union Canal every Friday, Fountainbridge is home to some of the country’s best street food retailers offering the prefect location for lunch. Elevenses or an afternoon treat. Each week hosts different suppliers but regular favourites include Babu Bombay Street Kitchen, Barnacles & Bones, Bonnie Burrito, French Connection Creperie, Union of Genius Soup and Steampunk Coffee.
6. Tram Stop Market
On Saturdays outside St. Mary’s Metropolitan Cathedral local residents love to visit the Tram Stop Market to find a selection of fresh produce and hot food.
7. Waverley Market @ Platform 2
Inside Waverley Railway Station every Friday around 40 stalls come together to form this exciting market offering fresh hot food and ethical gifts from Scottish craftmakers
8. The Pitt Market
In Leith this late night market takes place on Pitt Street once a month, although you’re in for a treat between September and December when it’s a weekly affair each Saturday.
This popular market is home to some of the biggest and best local players in the street food scene as well as drinks from Barney's Beer, Smith & Gertrude and Cocktails & Drams. All this with live music and entertainment make it a unique experience.

Seasonal Markets
Here's a couple of seasonal markets:
1. St John’s Market
In August during the Edinburgh Festival you can find a hidden gem in the grounds of St Johns Church at the West End of Princes Street Gardens. St John’s Market has an array of unusual items including crafts and artwork as well as clothing and gifts.
2. Edinburgh's Christmas Market
From mid November to early January each year you can wrap up warm to enjoy the festive fun of Edinburgh’s Christmas market at East Princes St Gardens. Thousands of Christmas shoppers visit the market each year to enjoy a European theme with delicious Gluhwein, crepes, waffles and venison sausages. Find beautiful handmade Christmas decorations and unique gifts while enjoying the Christmas atmosphere.
