ROYAL COMMONWEALTH POOL
The Royal Commonwealth Pool is one of Scotland’s main swimming pools and is known affectionately in Edinburgh as the “Commie”. After extensive refurbishment S&P; Architects were awarded the Scottish Design Award in 2012 for the best reuse of a listed building. In 2014 the Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow used the Edinburgh pool as the main venue for diving events. With Arthur’s Seat just outside the pool the setting is certainly picturesque. MURRAYFIELD STADIUM
Murrayfield Stadium is located in the west end of the city and has a capacity of 67,144 people. This was reduced from 67,800 to make space for the largest big screens in the country. Despite the screens now being in place Murrayfield remains the largest stadium in Scotland. Distance from Hostel: 2.2 miles
Meadowbank Arena is a multipurpose Sports facility with a capacity for 16,500 people. It’s hosted not just one but two Commonwealth Games in 1970 and 1986 becoming the first venue to host the Games twice. Meadowbank is often used for concerts with a capacity of 25,000 especially during T on the Fringe. Distance from Hostel: 1.6 miles
