Live Music in Glasgow

Glasgow is the live music capital of Scotland; our city is world famous and when it comes to the live music scene we really do have millions of musical styles on offer.

The international and independent live music scene is thriving, with local bands on every night across the city and international acts showcasing at state of the art and world famous venues.

The city is ‘alive with music’ and you will soon be swept along with the buzz. 

The Hydro is a 15 minute walk along the Clyde or short taxi ride away from Euro Hostel Glasgow (1.3 miles). This amazing; £125 million arena is on the site of the SECC (Scottish Exhibition Centre) and has a capacity of 13,000! Rod Stewart played the official opening in 2013 and it has handled over a million ticket sales since 2014 – that’s busier than Madison Square Garden in New York, making it the second busiest music arena in ticket sales, in the world!

After a £3 million refurbishment project transforming this unique and beautiful building from a cinema into the Carling Academy, the 02 is now a famous live music venue with a capacity of 2,500 and is only 10 minute’s walk from the hostel. During the annual Glasgow Comedy Festival, the venue is transformed into a comedy club with shows taking place every night. Russell Brand, Jimmy Carr and Frankie Boyle have performed at the venue.

Known as the sister venue to 02 Academy. It is located on Sauchiehall Street, one of the busiest streets in Glasgow and famous for its nightlife. The venue promotes new talent and is the hub of new unsigned acts. It also enjoys the retro feel with classic bands from the past playing there. At 02 ABC you'll find cult followings attending this venue to hear and discover indie bands/acts and something a bit different whether it's new or old.

Euro Hostel Glasgow is located right in the heart of the City Centre. It's just around the corner from Glasgow Central Station and 5 mins from George Square.

King Tut’s is a very well-known venue within the live music scene, with a capacity of 300. This ‘get stuck into the night venue’ is also where Oasis were discovered and signed on the spot. A superb line up of bands play every night. Euro Hostel Glasgow is less than 15 minutes walk away from King Tut’s so you really couldn’t get closer unless you slept on the street!

With a capacity of around 2,000 and known for its fabulous acoustics and sprung dance floor this venue truly is amazing. The Foo Fighters, Muse, Clash, Simple Minds, Stranglers, Oasis and U2 are just some of the many acts that have played here and gone on to be international showcase bands. Euro Hostel Glasgow is a 15-minute walk to the Barrowlands so book a room and enjoy live music right on your doorstep!

The Classic Grand is one of Glasgow’s best-loved live music and club venues. Only a quick jaunt up the road from Euro Hostel Glasgow, you’ll find a variety of amazing gigs and club nights covering indie, rock, classic pop, dance, r&b; and everything else that’s good about music.

Located on the busy and famous Sauchiehall Street. A 15 minute walk from the hostel or just a short taxi ride away. It's Scotland’s largest nightclub and is split into different rooms for different styles of music. The venue is seen as the stepping stone for new and unsigned acts but also plays host to blasts from the past.
